Then I will give you shepherds after My own heart, who will feed you on knowledge and understanding.” – (Jer 3:15)

Today we devote to pray for those who take spiritual charge over us. This includes those who introduced us to Christian faith and spiritual leaders who influence our lives to grow and serve better.

These spiritual leaders are human believers like us. Being human, they are just as susceptible to temptations as any of us.

More than that, the unique burdens of their calling demand our faithful ministry to them.

Those who have spiritual charge have the burden of wanting people to act more like Jesus and be the light of the world. Paul said to the Galatians (4:19), “I am again in the anguish of childbirth until Christ is formed in you!”

Nothing weighs heavier on a pastor’s heart than when his people don’t grow in faith, love, and righteousness.

For effectiveness of Christ ministry to His body and the world, the spiritual leaders in your life need your support.

The best way to bear the burden of those who have spiritual authority over you is to be a faithful Christian. Paul said in Philippians 2:2-3, “Complete my joy by being of the same mind…”

Pray for them every day. Don’t just say, “God bless the pastor.” Be specific. Pray for his health, his messages, his family, his flaws and weaknesses. Put yourself in his place and try to feel with him as you pray.

Go out of your way to say some gracious words of encouragement. Call them, visit them to know they are doing okay. Whenever you identify an area of lack in their life and ministry, go ahead and give that support in terms of items and financial support.

_”Let him who is taught in the word share all good things with him who teaches….” – (Gal 6:6‭-‬8)

Tell them on their face: “I appreciate your work, pastor, and I am praying for you every day.”

This year’s Daniel Fast, we shall be directing our prayer gifts to the Mathare Slums Mentorship program and building a shelter for an elderly and mentally sick Mary Nyambura. You can Channel your support via – HERI Foundation Mpesa Paybill 831033, Ac Mathare or Shelter.
